Juanita Lewis named Deputy Director of Community Voices Heard

We’re pleased to announce that Juanita Lewis has been promoted to the role of Deputy Director. In her new capacity, Juanita will drive campaign development across New York State and support organizing standards as well as donor and media relations.

During 12 year tenure with the organization, Juanita has been essential to CVH’s organizing work. Some of her accomplishments in this arena include: leading a 100+ person action and winning the campaign for Affordable Housing Assessment in Westchester County; winning electoral campaigns in Newburgh and Yonkers resulting in elected officials pushing for better housing and jobs policies; and leading community engagement process for redevelopment of Cottage Place Gardens Public Housing site in the City of Yonkers.

In addition to her leadership in the housing justice space, Juanita is a past member of the People's Action national training team for organizers. She also co-created the CVH’s leadership school, called the Ella Baker School for Organizing.

We’re thrilled to continue Juanita’s tenure and expand her leadership within the organization.
