Statement on Murder of Daunte Wright

zoe3518

The murder of Daunte Wright, a 20 year old Black man, by the #Minnesota police department serves as a yet another reminder that Black death is too often the result of our interactions with the police. His death was NOT an accident - Mr. Wright's murder is the result of a system that over-polices and criminalizes Black communities in order to maintain White Supremacy. Our heart breaks for his family and Black communities across the globe, as we continue to grapple with this state-orchestrated murder of Black life. Daunte Wright was a son, nephew, father, sibling, and friend. May his memory be a blessing and fuel to continue our movement to reimagine public safety and defund the police.
