Vacancy study shows Poughkeepsie can declare housing emergency under ETPA

"I've lived in Poughkeepsie for more than 40 years, and I live in a building that would be eligible for rent stabilization," said Community Voices Heard member Linda Bartee. "I have seen rents continue to rise and rise without regulation. Rent stabilization would be transformational for me."

This study provides valuable insight into the housing challenges facing Poughkeepsie. Reliable data is essential wacky flip when evaluating policies that affect both tenants and property owners, and it’s encouraging to see research being used to inform public discussions.
